How to get your test results

Test Results

After a GP or nurse has arranged a test or taken bloods from you, there is usually a short delay before we receive the results.

The GP who has requested the test will then review and interpret these results, and add a comment to the report for your information.

It is your responsibility to contact the Practice for your results. The GP will not automatically contact you. Unfortunately we do not have the capacity in the Practice to contact you.

You can phone in for the results between 11am - 4 pm each day. We are sorry but we are unable to give results out with these times.

When you phone for your results the receptionist will be able to pass on the comments from the GP.

We recommend you wait for a minimum of SEVEN DAYS after the test has been performed before calling us for the results.

Some test results take longer to come back, so please be patient if there is no result back when you call.

If you wish to speak with the doctor about your results it is always best, where possible,  to speak with the doctor who requested your tests.

Urine Specimens

For patient safety reasons, we now no longer accept urine samples for testing without a prior discussion with a GP.

In order to make a diagnosis and treatment plan we need to have a clear understanding of your symptoms. This can be done in a GP telephone appointment. We may also need to arrange a GP or nurse practitioner appointment for review.

If you feel you have a urine infection or urinary symptoms, please ask for a GP telephone appointment or nurse practitioner appointment. If you feel your symptoms are severe and require urgent treatment, the reception staff can ask for the duty doctor to telephone you.
